Cluster update to Alma Linux 9
We are scheduling a longer downtime from May 22nd to June 5th to update the whole cluster to Alma Linux 9.
This will affect all PLEIADES services, so the login nodes, worker nodes, and BeeGFS will not be available during that time.
Please plan your computations and work accordingly!
The update is very important to maintain a secure environment for everyone, since our current Linux installation - CentOS 7 - will reach its end of life on June 30th, 2024.
We are already observing a slower response to important security patches because of this.
A new Linux version is unlikely to affect your workflows. In the rare cases where someone really depends on CentOS 7 explicitly, you can use containers to reproduce our current environment.
